UPDATE: The image shared via Instagram is for new Bob Dylan song ‘False Prophet‘ and it has also been confirmed that a new album titled Rough And Rowdy Ways will arrive June 19.

Bob Dylan has teased what may very well may be a new album cover.

What are you lookin’ at – there’s nothing to see,” Bob Dylan writes via his official Instagram account.

The image follows the release of two new Dylan numbers ‘Murder Most Foul‘ and ‘I Contain Multitudes‘ in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the US.

As Bob Dylan’s new songs were announced in a similar manner, the lack of any music this time has lent many fans to believe the esteemed songwriter is teasing an album itself.

The cover takes cues from pulp horror with a cover’s scheme as well as Biblical title evocative of Dylan’s born again Christian era album Saved.

As for whom the term ‘False Prophet’ could refer it would be not too far of a stretch to relate the phrases to Dylan’s feeling about the incumbent US president.

though just as easily he may be referring to a subject closer to home, himself.

I never wanted to be a prophet or a savior,” Dylan shared in one 2004 interview with the BBC. “Elvis maybe. I could see myself becoming him. But prophet? No.

Were False Prophet to be an album it would be Dylan’s first since 2017’s Triplicate.

And, seeing as Triplaicte comprised entirely of covers, his first of original material in 2016’s Fallen Angels.

At age 78, Dylan shows no sign retiring format the world of music.

In a 2019 interview with Classic Rock, Led Zeppelin‘s Robert Plant recalled meeting Bob Dylan, a hero of his, to discuss a life spent on the road.

“‘Hey, man, you never stop!‘” Plant shared of the meeting Dylan. “He looked at me, smiled and said, ‘What’s to stop for?’”
