Owner Riley Fitzgerald is thrilled with the store’s swift success. “I didn’t think we’d make it so quickly,” he says. “It’s been an incredible journey from the start. To achieve this milestone in just two years is beyond my expectations.”

This helped give me an edge and build a unique collection quickly.”

Hybrid Retail and Online Model

Glitter Records has become a haven for music enthusiasts and collectors alike. The store offers a vast selection of rare and unique items online and a curated selection in a shopfront in California Lane, Fortitude Valley. Riley also attributes the store’s agility to its hybrid retail and online model, which has allowed it to rapidly overtake other record stores in Australia. Notably, Glitter Records also holds the title of most CDs on the secondary market.

Unique Curation

Riley adds that it’s worth noting that while Glitter Records holds the title of the largest Discogs store owned by an independent record shop, there is one other seller—a private collector—who has a bigger inventory, but it consists almost completely of 7-inch vinyl singles.
