King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s Joey Walker Announces New Solo Project

Bullant is Joey Walker‘s first solo project,” reads a press release from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard‘s record label Flightless.

It then goes on to explain that Walker, King Gizzard‘s guitarist, bassist and vocalist, recorded Bullant’s debut album Tyson Crying in 2018.

The result, a mix of King Gizzard’s usual flair for weirdness, musique concrète and a throbbing beat, was brought to life with minimal equipment and a spontaneous approach to recording.

“It’s pretty much a techno record made with a demo version of Reason and an Ableton crack,” Walker shares in the song’s press release, explaining his choice of recording software.

“Due to the software limitations,” he then continues, “I couldn’t save any sessions out which forced me to finish each track on the spot.”

Walker has also shared the first song from the album, ‘The Simpsons Suck Now’, which is accompanied by a music video featuring Flightless labelmate Amy Taylor from Amyl & The Sniffers.

While this is Walker’s first solo release, he has participated in a number of non-Gizzard musical projects in past, including playing in Love Migrate and DJing as part of an outfit known as TRUMPDISCO.

Tyson, Crying will be released on limited edition gatefold wax on Jan 31st, 2020.
