In 2020 Led Zeppelin’s bassist, keyboardist and arranger John Paul Jones will make a rare solo performance as Tennessee’s Big Ears Festival.

Big Ears will host the rare opportunity to experience John Paul Jones’ fertile, musical imagination as it unfolds,” the event’s organizers have shared.

Employing a grand piano, mandolin, and electronic instrumentation, Jones will deliver an improvised solo performance.

As to whether he will be riffing upon any of his iconic Led Zeppelin licks, it’s unclear though Big Ears’ showrunners suggest Jones will be  “responding only to the sounds and textures that emerge.”

John Paul Jones will also deliver a second set at the festival with Sons of Chipotle, a musical project which comprises of John and Finnish cellist Anssi Karttunen.

The event will take place March 26th-29th in venues throughout the city of Knoxville, Tennessee.
