Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason Postpones European Tour Due To Coronavirus Lockdown

Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and his Saucerful of Secrets have postponed their upcoming UK and European tour.

The safety and wellbeing of the fans,” the band shares via their official Instagram account, “the crew and band members are of paramount importance to those involved in the Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets UK & European tour that was due to start on April 23. Under the advice of the government due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the unilateral decision by the theatres to close at these uncertain times, we have had to postpone the UK shows until October.”

All tickets will remain valid.

The European leg of the tour, which was due to begin on May 18 in Brussels,” the group adds, “has also been postponed due to most of the governments in Europe forcing a complete lockdown of public assemblies and making it impossible to continue. Any further decision on this part of the tour will be taken as the situation becomes more settled and clearer.”

Nick Mason and his band’s US tour, which was expected to take place later this year, will likely be pushed back until 2021.

While physical copies may also face delays Mason’s forthcoming album Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Live At The Roundhouse will also be delayed until September 18.

In addition to Nick Mason’s tour, the drummer’s Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour, who was set to debut a new song ‘Yes, I Have Ghosts’ in March, has also postponed his live appearances.

Former Pink Floyd creative visionary Roger Waters, who is currently planning an extensive 2020 US tour, has yet to comment on whether his own shows will go ahead this June.

With Mason aged 76, Waters 76 and Gilmour 74, all three remaining members of Pink Floyd are in the age bracket most vulnerable tot he coronavirus.
