Episodes 1, 2 & 3 by DJ Set is a captivating exploration of creative freedom. The album comes from Brisbane’s experimental music scene. The creator is Callum Galletly, a drummer known for his work in a number of punk and post-punk band groups. These include Clever and Guppy.
Here he takes a welcome step into electronic music. Using drum machines, DJ Set creates something entirely original. Brisbane’s boundary-pushing, DIY ethos comes through in Galletty’s work—bold, experimental, and unafraid to take risks.
Drawing on his drumming background, Galletly crafts intricate, dynamic loops. As DJ Set, he brings a deep, intuitive sense of rhythm that is a joy to listen to. His music feels spontaneous and yet meticulously cohesive. Episodes 1, 2 & 3 is full of freedom and experimentation. This music rejects expectations, embracing a unique creative spirit.
This freedom makes Episodes 1, 2 & 3 a pleasure to listen to. The album’s rich drum patterns offer endless possibilities for future use in plunderphonics, rap sampling, and experimental DJ sets. The material is ripe for reinterpretation, making it a treasure trove for future use.

Which is a key feature of Brisbane’s experimental music scene. Not only is the music of DJ Set a pleasure to enjoy, as is much of the music that is created within this unique family of Australian artists. The spirit with which this music is made often infectiously inspires others to get in touch with their own creative pulse.
