Whether you’re a cat person like John Lennon or a dog-loving type like his fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, Spotify has you covered.

The streaming platform has now integrated a function that will algorithmically generate a playlist to keep the user’s dog, cat, hamster, bird or reptilian occupied.

Tracks are selected based on the animal in question’s temperament and the user’s own listening habits.

This is how the process works:

Step 1: Pick your pet.

“Choose from a dog, cat, iguana, hamster, or bird,” Spotify instructs.

Step 2: Tell Spotify more about your pet.

From relaxed vs. energetic to shy vs. friendly,” the streaming platform’s representatives add, “select which trait most aligns with your pet’s personality—it will help us pick the playlist vibe.”

Step 3: Add a name and photo.

The playlist cover will feature your pet’s name and photo,” they continue, “so you can keep the memory forever, and you’ll also receive a personalized share card!

Step 4: Listen and share.

“Once complete,” they conclude, “grab your iguana and get listening, dancing, or singing. Then, feel free to share (and compare) your card on social using #SpotifyPets.

One suggestion for those looking to curate their own pet-friendly playlist is ‘A Day In The Life’ from the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Recording the song The Beatle intentionally incorporated a dog whistle for the benefit of their canine listeners.

I think vinyl is the best,” Paul McCartney explained in one interview.

It just sounds good [so] I asked my engineers why it sounds good and they explained that there are frequencies above and below that you can’t hear,” the Beatle continued, “We got into a rap with George Martin a long time ago. We’d talk for hours about these frequencies below the sub that you couldn’t really hear and the high frequencies that only dogs could hear. We put a sound on Sgt. Pepper that only dogs could hear. If you ever play Sgt. Pepper watch your dog.

Other suggestions include Paul McCartney’s ultimate canine love song ‘Martha My Dear’ and John Lennon’s ‘And Your Bird Can Sing’.
