George Harrison‘s family have released a COVID-19 Spotify playlist.
“George Harrison songs to inspire positivity during these trying times,” the playlist’s bio reads.
‘Behind The Locked Door’ spans the entirety of George Harrison’s career, from his work with the Beatles, to experimental solo album Wonderwall Music to Indian chants he recorded in collaboration with late sitar master Ravi Shankar.
The release of the playlist comes a day after George Harrison’s son Dhani Harrison released his own isolation complication ‘Dhani Quairnatio‘, which features a number of his father’s songs.
The news follows the announcement that George Harrison’s The Material World Foundation will donate $500,000 to assist those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’, a leading single from the 1970 album of the same name, has also found renewed popularity during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Listen to George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass‘,” former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher wrote of the song via his official Twitter account last month, “it’s BIBLICAL.”
Queen guitarist Brian May has also echoed Gallagher’s sentiment.
“All Things Must Pass. ALL,” Brian May wrote via his official Instagram account shortly after Liam Gallagher’s remarks. “The earth. The coronavirus. The human race. George Harrison – here after the Beatles had passed – says it all.”
Reaching its 50th anniversary on November 27th, Geroge Harrison’s All Things Must Pass is expected to receive a deluxe reissue before the close of 2020.
The Harrison family has also recently relaunched the Beatles‘ 1970s record label Dark Horse Records this March and has begun to reissue a number of albums Harrison recorded and performed on with several of his favorite artists.
