Jimmy Page has reflected on Led Zeppelin‘s 2007 o2 Arena reunion in a new statement posted via his official Instagram account.
“Only one show and we were magnificent,” the guitarist shares.”Magnificent in the rehearsals and magnificent in the show.”⠀
“The production,” he continues, “rehearsals and soundcheck had revealed colors and textures unique to each and the confidence and attitude was outstanding.“⠀
Zeppelin, who had not given a full concert performance since 1980, appeared before a crowd of 20,000.

“There was no warm-up gig,” Jimmy Page recounts, “it was time to reveal the work we had put into the rehearsals and the set.”
As concert film Celebration Day attests the band was in fine form.
Bandmate and former Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant was also pleased.
“It was magnificent,” he told Rolling Stone in 2017. “We hit a home run that night, which is something that we were really fearful of. There was probably more riding on that than we would care to believe. Our performance was crucial, but we could reproduce sound in a much more reliable way, so we could be kickass, and sound kickass. Some of those horrific gigs way back were lacking in quality.”
Despite the willingness of Jimmy Page and original Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones to perform again, Plant was reluctant to continue with any Zeppelin plans.
“Thirty-eight years ago John Bonham passed away,” Plant elaborated to Esquire in 2018, “that’s all I know. That’s it. That’s the story. You know, Led Zeppelin was an amazing, prolific fun factory for a period of time, but it was three amazing musicians and a singer living in the times. Those times. That’s not going to stop me doing what I’m doing now. So that’s a headline, or not a headline. It doesn’t matter to me.”
Celebration Day will stream for free from May 30 (8 pm UK time) until June 10.
