Pink Floyd will stream David Gilmour‘s 2017 concert film Live At Pompeii in full this Friday.

45 years after Pink Floyd filmed ‘Live In Pompeii in an ancient Roman amphitheater in 1971, David Gilmour returned for two spectacular shows in July 2016.

In addition to the small audience – which Pink Floyd’s original 1971 concert lacked due to local government restrictions – Gilmour augmented the performance with a dazzling show and pyrotechnics.

The guitarist would also use an array of vintage instruments and equipment to faithfully evoke a classic Pink Floyd sound.

Though, as The Guardian reported at the time and much to the dismay of wife Polly Sampson, Gilmour declined to perform shirtless as he had tortiously done so in Pink Floyd’s original film.

The event also formed part of the world tour for Gilmour’s own solo album Rattle That Lock.

Live At Pompeii was originally released as a film, television special and live album.

Now Pink Floyd will stream the concert in full on Friday, May 8 for free via YouTube.

Live At Pompeii will drop 5pm UK time and 12pm Eastern standard time.

Its release follows the streaming of 1995 concert film Pulse and 1972’s Live At Pompeii and 1970 An Hour With Pink Floyd special filmed by San Francisco broadcaster KQED.

Unfortunately, this may be the last live material Pink Floyd has up its sleeve to stream for the time being.

If we had [more films],” Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason informed the French edition of Rolling Stone earlier this year, “we would take them out. There was so much fear of pirated copies that very few concerts were recorded. Doing Pink Floyd at Pompeii was a great idea, but I doubt anything was recorded during tours of Dark Side, Animals or Wish You Were Here. If we have archives, they are surely of poor quality.”

“Come to think of it,” he lamented, “we should have documented all of this.”
