Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason Announces 2020 UK And European Tour

In addition to releasing a new live album this April, Pink Floyd‘s Nick Mason and his Saucerful of Secrets band will be embarking an extensive UK and European tour.

Starting April 23 the tour will kick off in a number of regional UK venues before traveling to Scotland on May 15.

Mason and the company will then traverse Europe from May 18 to May 31, and again from June 2 to June 7.

Recruiting Spandau Ballet guitarist Gary Kemp, former Pink Floyd touring bassist Guy Pratt, guitarist Lee Harris and keyboardist Dom Beken, Mason first formed Saucerful of Secrets in 2018.

Tired of waiting for a reunion, the drummer still wanted to perform Pink Floyd‘s songs, particularly those from the group’s earlier years.

The group’s improvisational revisitings of several Syd Barrett era compositions have proven particularly popular amongst fans.

Probably the first great British glam rock pop star was Syd,” Gary Kemp recently shared in an interview with Prog magazine. “There would have been no David Bowie if it wasn’t for Syd. Bowie wouldn’t have cut his hair like that. There would have been no Johnny Rotten cutting his hair like that if it hadn’t been for the way Syd looked. Syd was our Velvet Underground, really. He was art school, he was dangerous, he was beautiful, he was living on the edge – all of those things that we find deadly attractive as rock musicians.”

Mason has also shared that North American tour dates will be announced shortly.

And, with his European dates wrapping up in June, it seems likely Mason will be touring the US at the same time as former Pink Floyd bandmate Roger Waters.

With Waters having joined Mason on stage last year to celebrate the 50h anniversary of Saucerful of Secrets, it is possible the two could perform together again.
