Tame Imapla To Headline Fuji Rock

Tame Impala will headline Fuji Rock Festival 2020.
Amidst a spate of US and Mexico cancellations, it seems Kevin Parker nad company will fare better on the other side of the Pacific.
Japan’s biggest music festival, Fuji Rock is attended annually by crowds between 100,000 and 150,000.
2020 will also mark the festival’s 24th year, making it Japan’s oldest continual rock festival.
“Tame Impala is Kevin Parker,” the festival’s artist profile reads, “After announcing the EP Tame Impala in 2008, he appeared at Summer Sonic the following year and released his debut Innerspeaker in 2010. The 2nd album Lonerism (2012) was ranked No. 1 in the NME Best Album Ranking of the Year, and Currents (2015) won the Best International Group of BRIT AWARD. As a lyric composer/producer, Kevin Parker has previously collaborated with Travis Scott, SZA, Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky and others. In 2019, he worked as a headliner for Coachella and Lola Palooza, and in 2020 released his long-awaited 4th album The Slow Rush.”
Parker and his band first performed at the festival in 2013, though to be catapulted to the headliner is no small step.
Tame Impala‘s latest album The Slow Rush debuted at #62 in the Japanese album charts, 9 places ahead of 2015’s Currents which peaked at #71.
2020 Fuji Rock Festival will run from Friday, August 21 until Sunday, August 23.
