Actor Keira Knightley has covered the Beatles‘ ‘Yesterday’ using only her teeth.

I was thinking of something entertaining to do and I couldn’t think of anything,” she shares before performing the Paul McCartney composition for a Wolrd Health Day livestream event purposed with raising money to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

So I’m going to play my teeth, which is my one and only party trick,” Keira Knightley continues before concluding. “Thank you to all the frontline workers and medical teams who are all working so hard right now.

The Pirates of the Caribian star previously performed a cover of pop star Luis Fonsi‘s ‘Despatico‘ in a similar fashion on late-night US television in 2019.

The news follows Knightley’s Pirates of the Caribian co-star John Depp covering Beatle John Lennon‘s solo composition ‘Isolation’ earlier this week.

Yesterday’ is the Beatles’ most covered song.

By Paul McCartney‘s count, it has been rerecorded more than three thousand times yet even the most avid Beatles enthusiast would be hard-pressed to find another version of the song delivered in this manner.

McCartney originally recorded the song with the Beatles in 1965 but only a long period of brooding over whether it was suitable for the band (he had written the lyrics some three years earlier in 1963.)

It fell out of bed,” Paul McCartney once shared of the song with Rolling Stone. “I had a piano by my bedside, and I must have dreamed it because I tumbled out of bed and put my hands on the piano keys and I had a tune in my head. It was just all there, a complete thing. I couldn’t believe it. It came too easy.

This is not the first time the song has made headlines this year, with pop star 18-year old Billie Eilish covering the McCartney number at the 92nd Academy Awards.
