Actor Johnny Depp has released a cover of John Lennon‘s ‘Isolation’.

Lennon’s song originally appeared on the former Beatle‘s 1970 solo album John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, which is rumored to be receiving a 50th-anniversary re-release this year.

Depp, best known for his film work, initially began his career in band known as The Kids during the early 1980s.

Assisting Johnny Depp on the track is British guitar hero Jeff Beck.

Lennon’s poetry seemed to Jeff and me especially profound right now,” Depp shares, “this song about isolation, fear, and existential risks to our world. So we wanted to give it to you, and hope it helps you make sense of the moment or just helps you pass the time as we endure isolation together.”

We weren’t expecting to release it so soon,” Beck adds, “but given all the hard days and true ‘isolation’ that people are going through in these challenging times, we decided now might be the right time to let you all hear it.”

Beck and Depp first debuted the song at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Texas last September.

Depp has also appeared in a number of Lennon’s fellow Beatle Paul McCartney‘s music videos, featuring in 2014’s ‘Early Days’, 2012’s ‘My Valentine’ and 2013’s ‘Queenie Eye‘.

McCartney would return the favor in 2017 by appearing as the uncle of Depp’s most famous screen character Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribian series’ fifth installment Dead Men Tell No Tales.
