In November last year, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour announced he would be appearing alongside several well-known musicians to pay tribute to Fleetwood’s Mac co-founder Peter Green at a one-off London performance.

The concert is a celebration of those early blues days where we all began,” Mick Fleetwood has shared of the event. “And it’s important to recognize the profound impact Peter and the early Fleetwood Mac had on the world of music. Peter was my greatest mentor and it gives me such joy to pay tribute to his incredible talent. I am honored to be sharing the stage with some of the many artists Peter has inspired over the years and who share my great respect for this remarkable musician.”

The show – which is occurring at London’s Palladium at the time of writing – also features Aerosmith‘s Steve Tyler, The Who’s Pete Townsend, Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie, and several others.

Mick Fleetwood and Pink Floyd‘s guitarist have also announced they will also be releasing the concert as a live album.

Mick Fleetwood & Friends Celebrate the Music of Peter Green and the Early Years of Fleetwood Mac will be available as a four-LP vinyl collection, a two-CD set, and as a DVD, all set for release October 19.

The DVD will also feature a documentary about the one-off concert.

The reinterpretation of traditional American blues as reimagined by British outfits like the early Fleetwood Mac, was instrumental in informing Gilmour’s own distinctive style.

There’s a distinct blues influence within what I do,” Gilmour shared with Billboard in 2006. “But at the same time, I am not frightened to step out of that. I don’t even think whether I play the blues or not, I just play whatever feels right at the moment. I also will use any gadget or device that I find that helps me achieve the sort of sound on the guitar that I want to get.”

In addition to appearing at the concert, the Pink Floyd axeman will accompany his wife Polly Sampson on a book tour this March where he will also debut a new song inspired by a character from the novel.
