Given that Stereogum recently ranked Tame Impala‘s Currents the 47th best album of the decade it may not be too much of a surprise that one of the album’s songs has now made its way into the website’s ‘200 Best Songs Of The 2010’s’.

Rolling in at number #61 on Stereogum‘s list comes Currents’ leading single ‘Let It Happen‘.

Kevin Parker reforged psych rock into a contemporary frontier,” Stereogum‘s Pranav Trewn writes, “then set his sights on fashioning EDM as high art. ‘Let It Happen’ is the intersection of acid house raves, Sgt. Pepper’s, and Diplo — a bold prototype for what the monogenre might have looked like if anyone else knew how to make music like this.”

The music of Currents has appeared several other end of decade lists including those by Consequence of Sound, Discogs and Pitchfork.

This said, many Tame Impala purists have challenged the album’s inclusion over 2012’s Lonerism, instead preferring lists such as Vice‘s which suggest that Tame’s second album is superior to their third.

Tame Impala’s fourth album The Slow Rush, which was initially expected to arrive earlier this year, will be dropping February 14, 2020.
