Every Tame Impala album has had its standout single.

InnerSpearker‘s was ‘Solitude Is Bliss’, Lonersim’s ‘Elephant’ and Currents’ ‘The Less I Know The Better’.

While there’s a degree of behind the scenes music industry maneuvering brings certain songs to the greater attention of the public over others, ultimately the decision as to which songs succeed is up to the fans to decide.

With Tame Imapals’ forthcoming album The Slow Rush it seems that the latest single ‘Lost In Yesterday’ is shaping up to be the fan-favorite.

Within 4 days of its release, the song has already hit over 3 million streams on Spotify.

In comparison, six-minute dirge ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’, released on December 4th, currently sits at a little over 7,950,000 streams.

The Slow Rush‘s first official single ‘It Might Be Time’, which arrived in October, sits slightly above this at 15,722,000.

‘Borderline’, which arrived in April, remains the album’s most popular song having been played more than 56,860,000 times.

‘Borderline’ itself sits shy of Tame‘s all-time biggest single ‘The Less I Know The Better’ which boasts 447,913,000 streams and continues to grow in popularity thanks to a recent surge in viral fame on TikTok.

Parker’s music, while understated is ambitious,” Cosmic wrote in our recent review of Tame’s latest single. “His changes song-to-song beckon fans to follow him into the future or risk becoming lost in the yesterday of Currents, Lonerism or InnerSpeaker. His musical fasciations have a way of leaving some of those who followed him in past behind but a gift for melody and lyrical honesty always sees him managing to draw in far more than he loses. Take him as he is or let him go, whatever the listener’s choice, Parker’s intention is clear. He’s not about to get hung up on the past.”

Kevin Parker himself is yet to make a public statement concerning the personal significance of the song and its lyrics.

Tame Impala’s The Slow Rush will arrive on February 14.
