Black Sabbath vocalist and heavy metal progenitor, Ozzy Osbourne has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Osbourne delivered the news in an interview with Good Morning America, revealing he had become aware of the condition in 2019 and that it forced him to cancel any plans of touring.

It’s PRKN 2,” his partner Sharon Osbourne, also present for the interview shared. “[It’s] a form of Parkinson’s.”

Parkinson’s is a degenerative condition that causes those who suffer from loss of movement and balance.

It’s not a death sentence by any stretch of the imagination,” she added, “but it does affect certain nerves in your body. And it’s – it’s like you have a good day, a good day, and then a really bad day.”

“[I’m on] a host of medications,” Ozzy shared. “I got a numbness down this arm for the surgery, my legs keep going cold. I don’t know if that’s the Parkinson’s or what, you know, but that’s – that’s the problem, because they cut nerves when they did the surgery. I’d never heard of nerve pain, and it’s a weird feeling.”

The condition casts doubt on whether Osbourne, currently 71 years old, will tour again, though he is still scheduled to kick off a US tour in May.

He loves to perform,” Sharon stated. “It is the air that he breathes, and this is the longest he’s ever been home. And it’s time for him to get back on the road because he’s driving me mad.”

The news comes while Ozzy Osbourne’s career has been experiencing yet another upsurge of popularity.

In addition to his, continuing veneration within the world of heavy metal, Ozzy Osbourne has once again familiarised himself with a younger pop audience with an appearance on Post Malone‘s top streaming album Holywood’s Bleeding last year.

Osbourne is also set to release his own solo album Ordinary Man, said to contain several Beatles inspired tunes, due February 21.
