The Beatles And Pink Floyd Much Better Than Oasis Says Liam Gallagher

In a new interview with MOJO, Liam Gallagher has compared the relative merits of the Beatles, Pink Floyd and his former band Oasis.

You know,” he remarked, “[Oasis] weren’t that f***ing great anyway.”

We were alright,” the 47-yeard-old old vocalist then conceded, “we were better than a lot of s**t out there but we weren’t pushing the boundaries, we weren’t Pink Floyd or the Beatles.”

Oasis disbanded in 2009 after longstanding tensions between Liam and brother Noel Gallagher had pushed the group its breaking point.

The pair are still fighting a decade later.

In fact, the most recent exchange between the two saw the former Oasis vocalist unfavorably comparing Noel, who had publicly criticized teenage Oasis fans, to Paul McCartney.

Paul, Liam believed, would never make such remarks about Beatles fans.

We didn’t make really great records,” Liam added, “we were just a good band.”

Having said this Liam Gallagher did contend that some Oasis songs have aged well.

I always loved ‘Live Forever’,” he shared, “‘Champagne Supernova,’ got a soft spot for ‘Supersonic’ cos it was the first one and it still sounds pretty good.”

Some of it hasn’t aged well,” he noted, “I’ll be honest, I hear it some day and I go, ‘Turn that s**t off.’ Oasis was a moment in time.”

(Unlike Liam, Paul McCartney may hold Oasis in higher regard given that he covered the band’s greatest hit ‘Wonderwall’ at a private party Abbey Road party in 2018.)

When it comes to his post Oasis work with Beady Eye and his later solo career, Gallagher had a more positive perspective.

I think some of the songs I wrote in Beady Eye were great” he enthused. “And I think the songs I’m doing now are great as well.”
