A new Rich List by The Sunday Times has revealed Paul McCartney to be the United Kingdom’s wealthiest musician.

With an estimated fortune of $983 million, McCartney ties with Cats composer Andrew Lloyd Webber for top place.

The Times‘ estimate of McCartney’s worth also includes the fortune of current wife Nacy Shevell.

As a New York Motor Freight heiress, Shevell alone is worth an estimated $220 million.

Trailing McCartney and Webber is pop star Rihanna at $573 million, Elton John at $442 million and Rolling Stone Mick Jagger at $349 million.

Olivia Harrison and Dhani Harrison, the wife and son of Paul’s Beatles bandmate George Harrison, also make the list with a combined fortune of $330 million.

Beatles drummer Ringo Starr follows with a net worth of $318 million.

The news follows wealth publication The Richest‘s 2019 declaration that McCartney was the world’s richest living rock star.

With a net worth of $1.2 billion,” the publication wrote, “he is one of the most successful rock stars not just of 2019, but of all time.”

McCartney’s fortune isn’t just something he has arrived at through Beatles royalties alone.

In a 2019 interview with Billboard Paul McCartney outlined some of his other financial endeavors including the acquisition of a large catalog of classic holiday songs he purchased at the insistence of first wife Linda McCartney‘s father Lee Estaman and brother John while the pair were managing McCarney in the early 1970s.

In addition to its massive popularity, McCartney’s recent Freshen Up Tour has also proven a veritable moneyspinner.

By Forbes estimate, McCartney earnt $48 million in 2019 alone, grossing an average $4 million per stop.
