A poll conducted by music licensing company PPL and BBC Radio 2 has revealed Daft Punk‘s ‘Get Lucky‘  is one of the most listened to songs of the last decade.

The 2013 single, featuring Pharell Williams, ranked fourth in the poll, topped only by Maroon 5‘s ‘Moves Like Jagger’, Adele‘s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ and Pharrell Williams‘ ‘Happy’.

Rather than quiz listeners, the poll surveyed UK radio and television licensing agreements to determine which songs had been played the most.

The top 40 most-played songs,” PPL Peter Leathem shares, “are the sounds that radio producers and broadcasters have consistently played throughout the last decade and will evoke many memories for all of us.”

The poll, along with Official UK Charts recent revelation that Random Access Memories was the highest-selling dance vinyl release of the decade, affirms the central role the French duo has played in influencing the music of the 2010s.

‘Get Lucky’ was the first single from Daft Punk’s fourth album Random Access Memories.

In addition to including Pharrell Williams on vocals, Chic‘s Nile Rodgers also appeared on the track on guitar.

The collaboration felt so unbelievably natural,” Rodgers has shared of the song to Rolling Stone, “it made me realize that I need to be in the studio with people. I love partnering with people. And then from that moment, a windfall of recording started happening. I just started going in with whomever I could.

Daft Punk were rumored to be working on their Random Access Memories followup throughout 2019.

Coronavirus related delays withstanding, their 5th album is expected to arrive this year.
