American Major League Baseball Pulls Roger Waters’ Tour Advertising On Request Of Israeli Advocacy Group

Pink Floyd‘s Roger Waters has not shied away from speaking publicly when it comes to his criticism of the Israeli government.

Now with Waters 2020 US Tour set to commence in July, his outspoken political views have landed him at odds with an unlikely foe: American Major League Baseball.

While Roger had initially advertised his This Is Not A Drill tour via media platforms associated with Major League Baseball, all promotions have been put on halt.

The decision not to advertise Waters’ tour was driven by Jewish advocacy organization B’nai B’rith International, who sent a letter to MLB protesting their association with Waters.

B’nai B’rith are not overly fond of Roger, labeling the former Pink Floyd creative visionary, “an avowed antisemite whose views on Jews and Israel far exceed the boundaries of civil discourse.

Waters, denies he is antiemetic.

Instead, he contends he is opposed to Isreali political interests driving the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

Life in the Palestinian territories is unbearable,” Waters shared of his beliefs in 2018.

Waters dismisses claims of antisemitism as “nonsensical”.

This is not the only drubbing Waters has taken from Jewish advocacy groups, as the Simon Wiesenthal Center has also communicated that businesses affiliated Waters’ Mexico performance also withdraw their support.

Your company’s prestige should not be stained by those that use music to camouflage discrimination and the diffusion of a violent and racist message,” the Simon Wiesenthal Center has shared.

The organization has also been critical of Waters used of a flying pig as the consumption of pork is banned in Judaism.

(Waters and his Pink Floyd bandmates have always maintained their flying pigs were inspired by author George Orwell’s Animal Farm, though no doubt it also draws a degree of inspiration from the countercultural slang term for corrupt police and politicians.)

Waters along with fellow popular artists Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Gorillaz, Natalie Imbruglia, Lorde, Elvis Costello, and Brian Eno currently refuses to perform in Tel Aviv and other Israeli locations on moral grounds.

With Waters also vocally opposed to issues concerning war, climate change and US President Donald Trump his 2020 US tour will no doubt be an eventful one.
