We all knew Roger was going to go,” Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour explains in a new video clip published via the band’s Facebook page. “We all knew he wasn’t happy, we weren’t happy.”

We all wanted to carry on,” Gilmour continues, speaking of the band’s decision to continue after Roger Waters left in 1985.

He then turns his thoughts to Pink Floyd’s 13th album A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

One day I felt this thing coming on to me, ‘Sorrow‘,” Dave recalls warmly. “I wrote five verses one evening, they just flowed out from there. It was one of those great serendipitous moments you later release have been really valuable.”

I wrote the words first and I wrote the music afterwards,” he adds. “I guess that was a good turning point. I felt we were one a good roll with this thing that was going to work.”

Obviously it was different Roger not being there but in some ways, we felt freed up,” he then continues. “The tensions of the last couple of albums, particularly The Final Cut were gone and it was just us together, writing, putting stuff down. There was a sense of freedom and optimism.”

As well as this there was the lawsuit thing going on,” Gilmour then states. “A pain in the ass, but there you go.”
