Paul McCartney And ‘FourFiveSeconds’ Collaborator Rihanna Reunite On Transatlantic Flight

Paul McCartney and Rihanna offer an interesting contrast.

While the pair, alongside Kanye West, celebrated on 2015 single ‘FourFiveSeconds’, their musical careers couldn’t be in two more different places.

Paul McCartney is in the middle of a prolific period, touring extensively off the back of the release of 11th studio album Egypt Station in 2018. In 2019 he has released two new songs, is penning a musical adaption of film ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ and was recently announced to be headling Glastonbury Festival in 2020.

With her efforts focused on multimillion-dollar forays into the fashion and makeup industries, Rihanna’s recent concerns have been decidedly non-musical. The Barbados born artist hasn’t released an album since her celebrated 8th record Anti in 2016.

And despite making a number of one-off live appearances she hasn’t toured since the same year of Anti’s release.

One thing the pair do have in common though, besides their fame and musical talent, is wealth.

Recently proclaimed the richest living rock star Paul McCartney is estimated to have a net worth of $1.2 billion.

Rihanna, four decades McCartney’s junior, is believed to be worth $600 million.

Where each of these figures stands in terms of personal and cultural significance will differ depending on who one asks, but both, it seems, still hold each other in high regard, as recent photos posted to the pop star’s Instagram Story can attest.

Meeting by chance on a transatlantic flight, the two artists spent some time in friendly conversation.

I’m about to put you on blast Mr. McCartney how are you on my flight?!” she teases the former Beatle in a video posted to her Instagram account.

Who is this peasant filming this legend?” McCartney jokes back.

Rihanna captioned the video #RihUnion.

Disembarking the pair were then spotted at London’s Heathrow Airport together.

Give Rihanna’s recording silence it seems unlikely another collaboration is on the cards, though Rihanna has recently stated that her next musical project will be a reggae album.

(Paul himself has flirted with reggae on several occasions including ‘How Many People’ and 1980s ‘Check My Machine’.)
